En venta casa urbana Barrio La Palma Villa de Leyva
by Maria Bernal
VALOR DE LA CASA $245.000.000 (Doscientos cuarenta y cinco millones de pesos) English Translation A beautifully designed home in Villa de Leyva: As you arrive in the beautiful colonial town of Villa de Leyva you will find a very special house built on a 340 m2 lot; created by the designer as a retreat especially for others to enjoy. Located in a new development in a very quiet and pleasant neighbourhood, it is within eight minutes walking distance from the main square. The exterior is constructed of wood, adobe and clay tiles with the interior finished in teak, cedar and Guayacan. The simple design of the house brings out the natural beauty of these exquisite types of wood. The floors are done in ceramic tile, which gives the house a more traditional architectural style, yet still keeping a modern look. The aim of the artist was to achieve a modern space with clean, well defined lines so that the buyer, who is fortunate enough to acquire such a place, will feel that they are making an excellent choice. As you enter through the front door you are welcomed by an open and spacious lobby with easy access to all of the rooms, yet still retaining the unique individuality and intimacy of each room. The large windows in the great room allow for light and heat to warm the house as well as creating a spectacular view of the West. On the main floor there are two spacious bedrooms, a large closet, and large windows overlooking the backyard where fruit trees and vines grow. The bedrooms are located in a small hallway separated from the living area by a piece of furniture which is equal in beauty to that of the other objects found in the house. Also on the main floor there is a fireplace and access to the main bathroom. The kitchen, spacious and with a window overlooking the garden, is made entirely of teak wood. Its design is non-traditional and includes a custom made pantry door which was designed specifically for this particular kitchen. There is sufficient space to accommodate a large freezer and a dishwasher with a hot water hook-up. There is also a space for a washing machine in the laundry area, which is covered by a canopy. The stair treads are made of a special wood called Maqui or Sapan Amarillo, which is a very strong and resistant type of wood with a timeless elegance. The risers are made of cedar and are open so that artificial light can filter through in the evenings (light from under the staircase), achieving a very beautiful effect. The width and design makes for a very eye appealing staircase. To add to the beautiful lighting effect is a huge window which allows light to shine in during the day. On the second floor, the master bedroom takes up the entire space with a diagonal window allowing a beautiful view of the West. A well lit walk-in closet and bathroom compliment this huge alcove, with a skylight on the roof as the main attraction. In the front garden there is a small pond with papyrus and buchón plants occupied by red fish swimming around the roots of the plants. Along with fruit trees there are vines of colorful flowers planted next to the mud wall overflowing into the street, as is typical in almost all the gardens in Villa de Leyva. Finally, there is a parking area which provides enough space for two cars. In this special house, which is 160 m2, every convenience a person could ever need was thought of in the designing process so that there would be an atmosphere of peace and contentment for that special person who would be lucky enough to purchase such a place.
