Lago Calima near Cali Colombia an overlooked gem

Travelling to colombia over 20 times in the past 5 years , visiting all the major "HOT SPOTS " you have listed including San Andres . I married a calenia in 2005 in Cali and found the jewel of the country overlooked by most all travellers . Lago Calima is northwest of Cali , a pristine lake in the mountains famous for its swiss chalet style architecture , cool temperatures at 5200 ft. , and gentle afternoon winds . The landscape is breathtaking as you travel up the mountain overlooking the valley and you feel the air gradually grow cool . The scenery is a storybook " come to life " . 2 rivers feed the Calima lake at one end and 1 river exits to the pacific ocean on the other . International wind and kite surfing competitions are held there every year . Plenty of water sports and a drive around the lake , its winding roads , cool breezes , and scenic beauty will absolutely put it at the top of your list . That's why I built a house there , I am an american moving to colombia in october 2010 . I have found the caribbean coast much too hot for my liking . When I am at Calima lake outside the small town of Darien I find myself where I wish to be .....
